Adulthood
I
Adulthood Resembles
Making meaning
Out of deep tragedy
As equally as the daily mundane.
II
Adulthood Feels
of stark aloneness
With the twisted sense
We are all together.
Deceptive as a barbershop sign.
Desire:Prayer:hope
Remove the hunger from wanting
On Self and others
I would like to write an ode to memory
Reminder of what can never be present again
Weighted at the center - the unmoved mover
We take what we are given
Balancing out the old-old with the new old
My mind jumps back to settle on you
Then you
Then the new new you - easily present here
But all along - just me
Commute
You don’t know how you got here
You find it crowded
Damp feet. Worn hearts.
Resigned in this place newly, again.
An inch of standing water
- barefeet firmly planted -
Forgetting you have wings
In Two
Married there
While hiding here
A new veil - your life enhanced.
Subtle darkness
Safe within a facade of control
The you, that they meet
The you, that you know
This enigma perfectly - Right there!
In the rising smoke
Moments that are wide and curved and lost
It's laughable really
Being here.
